We have a position for a new PhD student in our group. The research project involves developing micromechanical structures to interact with ultra-cold atomic gases (Bose-Einstein Condensates.) The microfabricated structures will be fabricated here at Caltech in the KNI. These structures will be integrated into an experiment lead by Prof. Mukund Vengalattore at Cornell University.
The student who leads this project will be come an expert in many aspects of microfabrication and micromechanical characterization, ultra-sensitive optical and electrical measurements, and the physics of ultra-cold atomic gases. A background in physics with a strong interest in advanced experimental techniques is required for this work.
