Chris Macklin

Chris Macklin

Chris is a fourth-year physics undergraduate at Cornell University. He joined the Schwab group in Spring of 2008, and is currently working on vacuum systems for the group's second dilution refrigerator(expected base temp ~4.5 mK). Chris is also the group barista, ensuring that the lab remains efficiently caffeinated at all times.

Chris has previous worked with Prof. Ritchie Patterson and the CU-CMS Egamma group, developing electron identification algorithms for the CMS experiment at CERN, as well as with Prof. Matthias Liepe and the CU SRF group, testing fast piezoelectric feedback tuning of superconducting RF cavities for particle accelerators.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys thinking far too heavily about the philosophical implications of quantum mechanics and cosmology, as well as dabbling in theatrical lighting and live sound production.
